Mali began her career in nursing in 1990 in Toledo, Ohio. For ten years she worked as a pediatric nurse at two acute care hospitals in Toledo, specializing in hematology and oncology. In June of 2000, Mali and her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. She continued her pediatric nursing career with employment at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, also in hematology/oncology. Mali has experience with general pediatric patients, renal, post-surgical, and cardiac patients as well. Throughout the last fifteen years, Mali has maintained a keen interest in pediatric oncology research, in conjunction with the care she has provided to her oncology patients. It is because of this interest in oncology research that has led her to her current position of Clinical Research Nurse for Oncology at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, which she started in January of 2005. Mali has held certifications on chemotherapy administration, as well as certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). As a nursing preceptor, Mali has mentored many novice nurses. She is a member of the Arizona Chapter of the American Association of Pediatric Oncology Nurses (APON). She is working towards eventual certification in the field of clinical research. Mali is excited about being part of a team that participates in modern, cutting-edge oncology research. She hopes that her work will make a difference in the life of a child diagnosed with cancer.
