Michael
Graham, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the
University of Arizona and a board certified Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist.
He fulfilled requirements for a B.A. at Columbia College in 1971, completed
a Master’s program in Medical Sciences at Rutgers Medical School
in 1973, and then earned his medical degree at Brown University in 1975.
Following a pediatric residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 1975-1979,
Dr. Graham completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at
Johns Hopkins from 1979-1980 and a Research Fellowship in Medical Oncology
at Yale University from 1980-1982. Dr. Graham joined the medical team
at Johns Hopkins in 1982, where he served as Assistant Professor of Oncology
and Pediatrics until 1988. He also acted as Clinical Assistant Professor
Oncology and Pediatrics from 1988-1989. In 1990 he became a faculty member
of Duke University. Between 1990 and 1995, Dr. Graham provided his services
as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (’90-’93) and Associate
Professor Pediatrics (’93-’95). Since 1995, he has been a
member of the faculty at the University of Arizona (Tucson). Dr. Graham
currently serves as Director of the Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Service
at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center (UAHSC).
With the experience and expertise of Dr. Graham,
the Department of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology has developed
a nationally respected pediatric bone
marrow transplant program at UAHSC. Working with a group of dedicated
physicians and nurses in the bone marrow transplant unit, Dr. Graham
provides life-saving therapeutic options to pediatric oncology patients
with otherwise incurable disease. At present, Dr. Graham’s research
interests include the development of therapeutic monitoring for busulfan
in patients undergoing bone marrow and stem cell transplantation,
and resource utilization in patients receiving treatment for fever
and neutropenia.
Dr. Graham has co-authored forty-three scholarly papers and thirty-four
abstract proposals. He has been a guest lecturer and consultant in the
United States, Singapore and China.
Dr. Graham is a member of the Pediatric Oncology Group, the Myeloid
Committee of the Pediatric Oncology Group, and the Bone Marrow Transplant
Subcommittee of the Pediatric Oncology Group.
