Michael Recht, MD, PhD is the director of the Hemophilia Center as well as the director of hematology research at Phoenix Children’s Hospital (PCH).

Dr. Recht received a bachelor of science in psychology in 1985, a Ph.D. in human cancer biology in 1990, followed by a medical degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1992. Dr. Recht completed his pediatrics residency in 1995 and his fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology in 1998, both at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital.

Throughout his career Dr. Recht has been interested and involved in research. As an undergraduate, Dr. Recht was a research assistant in the department of pathology followed by the department of allergy and immunology at the University of Wisconsin. In 1986, he was a research fellow of the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Recht’s current research focuses on hemophilia and related blood disorders. He has participated in numerous investigator initiated and national clinical trials. Dr. Recht has presented his data at national meetings and has produced many publications in journals as well as authoring multiple book chapters. Dr. Recht is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, the National Hemophilia Foundation, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the International Society of Interferon Research.
