After receiving her undergraduate degree from Antioch College in Ohio, Dr. Adams received her medical degree at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. Following her internship and residency at Boston Children’s Hospital, Dr. Adams worked as a general pediatrician on the Navajo reservation in Kayenta, Arizona for 3 years. She subsequently went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology at the University of Utah in 1990. Dr. Adams worked at the University of Utah for twelve years, where she was an assistant professor. For the last six years, she was the clinical director of the Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Program. Dr. Adams has had extensive experience in cancer and bone marrow transplant research. She has served as principal investigator in many local and national cooperative clinical trials, resulting in a prolific portfolio of publications and oral presentations at national and international meetings. She currently serves as co-chairperson of the Supportive Care Strategy Group of the Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Consortium. In addition, Dr. Adams has served as a reviewer for the Journal of Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation and is a member of the Banner Health Systems Institutional Review Board (IRB), which serves as the regulatory agency for all research at PCH and several other institutions.
